We take immense pride to announce “MARK-10” – the inauguration of our International Standard Shooting Range. It’s a first of its kind, flood-lit indoor range for all weather training. We are now ready to prepare a young contingent of enthusiastic shooters who can practice their marksmanship without having to leave the campus.
Hon’ble Sh Anil Vij, Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs, Haryana will inaugurate the event in presence of other dignitaries; Mr. Gyan Chand Gupta (Minister of State, Haryana), Mr. Jagdeep Singh (Director of Sports and Youth Affairs, Haryana), the Director, Principal and other staff members.
When CBSE included rifle shooting in its sports calendar in the year 2013, it marked the beginning of a new phenomenon. In the past few years, scores of participants have represented India in international rifle shooting events and have won a number of medals and laurels, including Olympics. This has prepared a platform for many aspirants to reach the heights of this sport.
Panchkula will soon carry this baton forward when it opens its door to a sophisticated 10-m indoor shooting range at Hallmark Public School. The facility was built under the expert technical supervision of D.S. Chandel, our Technical Adviser and Honorary Coach for ‘Mark-10’, who is also a well respected ISSF Judge, “A” License, ISSF Coach “C” License, ASC Coach “C” License.
Shooting as a Way of Life
In the words of Mr. Jivtesh Garg, Director, Hallmark High School, “More than being a sport, shooting is a skill and a way of life. To understand and perceive in the truest form, we encourage our students to participate in this activity without any presumptions and fear. It is increasingly getting popular worldwide for the development of mental discipline among the young children.”
Mr. Garg further adds “The simple elegance of the mechanics, the sophistication of the equipment, and the atmosphere of solitary dignity predominant at the shooting range have a great attraction for those who wish to walk upon the path of self-knowledge. The scenario and forms of competitive shooting have evolved over the period of time. Equipment, now, has become more sophisticated than they were over the past two centuries. However, the essence of this sport still remains intact. With our team of experts, I am very hopeful and looking forward to nurturing the shooting enthusiasts and amateurs to become the pride of the nation.”
The training will be imparted under the thorough and proficient supervision of esteemed trainers from the fraternity. Despite the paranoia regarding gun sports, it has to be understood that shooting is a hard discipline that teaches restraint over emotions. Following are some of the benefits of this sport:
- Mental Discipline: Shooting is primarily a mental sport and helps cultivate consistency, perseverance and mental discipline in students. It improves their logical and creative thinking as well.
- Physical Fitness: Regular shooting practice and the associated exercises increase hand-eye coordination, strength and stamina. The physical discipline involved in this sport promotes healthy habits in students, which stay with them for their entire life.
- Personal Responsibility: The shooting sport teaches students about the safe use of guns and educates them on the associated security issues. This helps install personal responsibility in students.
- Improved Concentration: Regular Shooting practice improves concentration and focus. Improved concentration leads to better problem solving ability and logical thinking. In other words, the shooting sport strengthens the foundations of success.
Hallmark Public School, Panchkula has a modern infrastructure that is perfectly complemented by its comprehensive pedagogy and extracurricular activities. This 10-meters indoor shooting range will be well-stocked with the essential paraphernalia, perfect ambience, technical layout, and infrastructure of international standard.
